Skin aging is inevitable, but some of us will experience more severe symptoms than others. These symptoms can include fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, rough skin texture, and uneven complexion.
Skin aging is inevitable, but some of us will experience more severe symptoms than others. These symptoms can include fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, rough skin texture, and uneven complexion. The best ways to prevent these symptoms are by limiting sun exposure throughout your life, and protecting your skin with sunscreen, keeping your skin hydrated and clear and with diet. But sunscreen is my number one skincare must in helping to reduce the signs of ageing! When nourishing and keeping your skin hydrated with other products, antioxidants like vitamin E and vitamin C (found in most delicious plant oils) can help to fight free radicals, electric charges in the skin which are created as a response to sunlight, pollution, smoking, and other environmental factors.
Free radicals are a major cause of skin ageing; so by supplying your skin with antioxidants, you can help to support your skin health and combat the symptoms of ageing. You can do this both through your diet and by using antioxidant-rich skincare products. Ultimately, though, ageing is a part of life--and while there are definitely steps you can take to keep your skin looking healthy as you age, it’s important that you wear your age with pride!
- Wearing sunscreen everyday, yes even in the winter in the UK, I recommend at least spf 15 in the winter and then increase from March working up to spf 50 all summer long.
- Use natural fake tans, there are so many on the market now (that aren’t orange) so you don’t need to tan your face. Slap on the spf 50, wear a hat in the sun and fake it! Your skin will look more dewy and your wrinkles will slow down.
- You must exfoliate your skin regularly as this will get rid of any dead skin cell build up to reveal bright fresh skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
- Eat a diet with lots of antioxidants too, fresh foods, bright colours and lots of healthy fats, this will fight off the wrinkles too.
