Ever since launching BAO Skincare, I have continued to keep offering you the most eco friendly packaging where possible. As a small independent brand, it has been tricky as minimum order quantities can be very high. Although some of my current packaging still contains plastic pumps, as the business grows I am working towards even more sustainable options!
Recycling BAO packaging.
The jars are all made from glass, the lids aluminium, the 200ml bottles are also glass, the mini bottles (including the 200ml Reviving Body Wash) are made from fully recyclable plastic. I suggest always keeping the mini ones to reuse over and over again when you go away for the weekend or abroad on holiday. The pouches are made from aluminium and inside a plastic lining, this is a requirement for health and hygiene reasons and it is still classed as fully recyclable. Although the labels are plastic (as paper ones just won’t work) they are less than 5% of the total packaging meaning they can be fully recycled too. I am currently looking into alternative options for labelling though.
The lowest Carbon Footprint Card.
As you will see, some products are sold in cartons. These are offered to my retailers purely to protect the products from being damaged in transit, along with the fact they have barcodes which is a requirement for stock control and recording sales. But I am excited to proudly display the World Land Trust certification on the cartons. World Land Trust’s Carbon Balanced programme enables individuals and organisations to offset their residual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through the protection and restoration of carbon-rich wildlife habitats in the tropics.
Packaging your orders.
When you order from the BAO Skincare website, your products are carefully wrapped and packed in shredded paper, tissue paper and a cardboard box. All of which is fully recyclable.
On occasions, where something is delicate and needs extra protection, I do use biodegradable bubble wrap, 100% biodegradable and can be popped in your recycling bin.
